In this classic work, Dr. V.D. Mahajan sketches Chief Justice Mahajan's life as a lawyer, a Judge and a politician. The book gives a fair idea of what that great man was; what he thought and what he did. Keeping in view the contemporary relevance of the Kashmir issue, readers will find the biography interesting as it discusses the prominent role played by Dr. Mahajan in the history of Kashmir. Some of his papers and addresses on important issues concerning the country that affirm his love for the country and some of his most famous judgments have been discussed by the author.
Dr Vidya Dhar Mahajan needs no introduction to the readers. He has several books to his credit including the biographies of two former Chief Justices of India. The subject of his present biography is Chief Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, a former Chief Justice of India. Chief Justice Mahajan’s was a colourful personality. He lived a variegated life and made a name as a lawyer, a Judge and a politician. His services in Kashmir will be gratefully remembered by all Indians. As a Judge, he was incisive and forthright and has many leading judgments to his credit. It is hardly necessary to mention them here because Dr Mahajan has given an analysis of all those judgments with copious extracts from his pronouncements. I think the subject was a vast one but Dr Mahajan has adequately covered all angles of Chief Justice Mahajan’s colourful life.
