The Supreme Court of India conducts an examination before enrolling a person as an Advocate-on-Record (AOR). The basic purpose of the examination is to ensure whether the person is well versed with the procedure, practice and rules of the Court. Matters before the Apex Court require special skills and expertise of varied areas of law including the Constitution of India. Besides fair knowledge of the drafting, skills of advocacy and professional ethics are also put to check. Therefore, considering the ever-evolving vital role of AOR in the functioning of the Supreme Court, the threshold to qualify as an AOR increases every year. In such a scenario, the availability of reliable and authentic material to prepare for AOR examination can seldom be undermined.
The present book on 'Advocacy and Professional Ethics' has been prepared keeping the above factors in mind. The book contains articles by legal luminaries on various topics of relevance. Recent and landmark judgments by the Supreme Court and some High Courts have been compiled and inserted at relevant places in the text.
